WDI USA is urging signatories to take two actions: one local and one global.

1. The San Francisco Chronicle Should Hold a Town Hall in CA’s District 11

Cynthia Cravens is a radical feminist Democrat challenging California state senator Scott Wiener for his senate seat. Senator Wiener was responsible for SB 132, which requires men to be housed in the women’s prison on the basis of their “gender identities,” which conflicts with Article 8 of the Declaration on Women’s Sex-Based Rights. Cravens’s position on gender is clear: Trans-identifying males should not be in women’s spaces and sports. As she says on her website, “It’s unsafe and it’s unfair. Boys and men, no matter how they self-identify, can and should compete only in male sports.”

Also challenging Senator Wiener are Yvette Corkrean (Republican) and Jingchao Xiong (no party preference). The primary will be held on March 5, 2024 and the general election on November 5, 2024. The primary is an open election—whichever two candidates receive the most votes, regardless of party, will advance to the general election.

To date, no town hall events have been scheduled. The US chapter of Women’s Declaration International thinks that needs to change. San Francisco voters deserve to hear from all four candidates about their positions on the issues.

2. The WHO Needs to Go Back to the Drawing Board

On December 18, 2023, WHO announced that it will be developing a guideline on “the health of trans and gender diverse people.” WHO also published the names of the 21 guideline panel members who are scheduled to meet from February 19-21, 2024 at WHO’s headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. As part of that announcement, WHO opened a brief window for public comment, scheduled to close on January 8, 2024.

We have three concerns with the WHO’s proposal and process:

  1. Its guideline development group is biased.
  2. The public consultation period is much too short.
  3. The guideline development process is rushed overall.

We think the WHO’s actions are in conflict with Article 9 of the Declaration and are urging signatories to sign this petition telling WHO to go back to the drawing board to get this right!

Deadline: January 7, 2024.

From the petition page:

WHO Should Go Back to the Drawing Board on its Transgender Health Guidelines

We, the undersigned, strongly object to the World Health Organization’s (WHO) biased panel tasked with creating new transgender health guidelines. Of the 21 panel members, over three-fourths are transgender activists. The few physicians either specialize in HIV or are “gender doctors.” There is currently a worldwide explosion of teenagers wishing to undergo a sex change; WHO’s stated plan to promote hormones and “legal recognition of self-identified gender” will harm innumerable gender-dysphoric youth, gays, lesbians and other women. WHO must cancel this group’s first planned meeting in February and go back to the drawing board.
