The State Legislative Advocacy team wrote and submitted testimony to the California Senate Health Committee opposing California Senate bill 923, a bill related to “gender-affirming care” and “trans-inclusive healthcare” in California health systems. The testimony was signed by 10 California signatories to the Declaration.
The bill is scheduled for a hearing in the California Senate on Wednesday, April 6th at 1pm PT.
S.B. 923 seeks to expand the state’s existing “Transgender Wellness” program by requiring health service plans and health insurance providers to undergo “cultural competency training for the purpose of providing trans-inclusive health care.”
It would also require health service plans and insurers to maintain a list of providers in their networks that offer “gender-affirming services.”
